Nigeria Visa Types
If you are a US passport holder and wish to travel to Nigeria, you must have a visa. Visas are issued by the Nigerian Embassy and the Consulates General of Nigeria. The most common Nigeria visa types are listed below. Please click on the titles for further details.

Nigeria Tourist Visa
This visa is for tourists or those traveling to Nigeria for any personal reasons, and is valid for up to 3 months. For those who wish to visit multiple times, the visa is valid for up to 6 months.
Non-US Nigeria Tourist Visa
For tourists who are non-US passport holders and who currently live in the United States, this is the visa for entry to Nigeria. You will need to provide proof of your current US status.
Nigeria Business Visa
This visa is for those planning on doing business in Nigeria, with a single entry stay for up to 3 months, and multiple entries for up to 6 months. This type of business includes meetings, negotiations, etc., and differs from a work visa (see below).
Non-US Nigeria Business Visa
For businesspeople who are non-US passport holders and who currently live in the United States, this is the visa for entry to Nigeria. You will need to provide proof of your current US status. This type of business includes meetings, negotiations, etc., and differs from a work visa (see below).
Subject to Regularization (STR) Work Permit Visa
This visa is for foreigners to be employed in Nigeria. This visa is generally single entry, good for 3 months, after which you should be eligible for a more permanent status called Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Alien Card (CERPAC), which allows you to live and work as a resident.
Temporary Work Permit (TWP) Visa
This single-entry visa is intended for those working for short, predetermined periods of time in Nigeria. These visas are generally single entry, good for 3 months. You will need three letters: a sponsorship letter and an invitation letter from your employer, and approval for the TWP.
Diplomatic
The diplomatic visa is intended solely for government officials and agents, and diplomats and their spouses. You will need a letter from the State Department to obtain this visa.
