China Visa Types


There 11 different visa types that we can assist with:

Tourist (L1), (S1), (S2), (Q1), (Q2)
  • The L visa is for vacation, leisure, sightseeing, visiting friends and family - for under 60 days.
  • The S1 visa is a long term visa for applicants who are visiting a family member that has valid residence permit in China due to work or study. This visa allows for a duration of stay of  over 180 days
  • The S2 visa is a short term visa for applicants who are visiting a family member that has a valid residence permit in China due to work or study. This visa allows for a duration of stay less than 180 days.
  • The Q1 visa is a long term visa for applicants who are visiting family members who are Chinese Citizens. This visa allows for a duration of stay of over 180 days.
  • The Q2 visa is a short term visa for applicants who are visiting family members who are Chinese Citizens. The visa allows for a duration of stay of less than 180 days.

Business (M)
  • This visa is generally issued as a multiple entry 10 year visa for U.S. Citizens that allows applicants to visit China for up to 60 or 90 days to attend business meetings with a Chinese Company.
  • Other Citizens will either be issued a single entry (3 month visa, max duration of stay of 30 days) or double entry visa (6 months, max duration of stay of 60 days).

Non Business (F)
  • The F visa is issued for applications who are visiting a school/university, attending a conference/seminar/lecture or a tradeshow. A work permit or alienThe visa is issued as a single entry 3 month visa for a max duration of stay for 30 days.

Work (Z)
  • Work visas are issued to applicants who are being employed by a Chinese company or school. A Foreign Expert's Work Permit or Alien Employement License is mandatory to apply for this visa. A single entry visa is issued for 3 months with a max duration of stay for 90 days. Once you arrive in China, you will need to apply for your residence permit.

Student (X1) and (X2)
  • X1 student visas are long term visas that are issued for students who are planning to stay longer than 180 days. The visa itself will be issued as a single entry 3 month visa for a max duration of stay for 90 days. Once you arrive in China you will need to apply for your residence permit.
  • X2 student visas are short term visas that are issued for students who are staying for less than 180 days. This visa is issued as a multiple entry visa, a residence permit is not required.

Crew (C)
  • Crew Visas are issued for flight crew members or cruise/cargo ship members. A copy of the crew ID badge will be required for this visa. A 2 year multiple entry visa can be requested but it will be issued at the consulate's discretion
